The spot

Community-maintained

Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Nestled within Coffin Bay National Park on the Eyre Peninsula, Yangie Bay Sanctuary Zone is a sheltered, shallow-water haven protected as part of the Thorny Passage Marine Park. This calm, slow-moving bay acts as a critical nursery for juvenile fish, flounder, mud cockles, and mullet, with tiny fish often seen jumping clear of the glassy surface. The sanctuary zone's protected status means fishing is prohibited, allowing marine life to thrive undisturbed. Kayakers and snorkelers can paddle through turquoise waters, explore the sandy shallows, and at night, spot eels by torchlight. Accessible by 2WD, with a campground, toilets, picnic shelter, and kayak launch nearby.
