Based out of 43 Riverside Drive in Wooli, this full-service PADI dive centre launches snorkel tours to North Solitary Island — a protected oasis just 7 nautical miles offshore. Part of the 71,000-hectare Solitary Islands Marine Park, the island features clear, warm waters in sheltered bays and coves where tropical and temperate marine life converge at the southernmost reach of the Great Barrier Reef system. The centre caters for everyone from beginners to advanced snorkelers, offering guided group trips with morning tea provided, typically departing at 7:30 am and returning by 12:30 pm.

North Solitary Island is exposed to open ocean swell; conditions can change quickly on exposed sides.

  • Low risk: Ocean swell exposure

North Solitary Islands can swell up on exposed sides; the tour operator selects protected coves, but conditions can change quickly.

Snorkel sites are accessed by boat; be aware of the tour vessel and other boats near the islands.

  • Low risk: Marine stingers

Bluebottles and occasional box jellyfish may be present in warmer months (Nov–Mar).

  • Low risk: Ocean swells

Exposed offshore reefs can experience ocean swells, especially in southerly winds. Conditions can change rapidly.

  • Low risk: Strong currents

Where northern and southern currents converge around the islands, localised currents can be stronger than expected.
