Woolgoolga Headland — known locally as "Woopi" — is a rocky headland jutting into the Pacific on the Coffs Coast, offering protected snorkeling at its base on calmer days. The headland forms the northern boundary of Woolgoolga Beach, with gentle gutters and rock platforms that hold good marine life. Up top, a scenic lookout with walking tracks provides panoramic ocean views, and the area is a renowned whale-watching vantage point from May to October. The adjacent Woolgoolga Beach is patrolled, with easy shore-entry snorkeling on calm, low-swell days.

Moderate risk: Ocean swell and waves
The headland and beach are exposed to Pacific Ocean swells; surf can create strong shore-dump and sweep along the beach, making conditions unsafe for snorkeling on high-swell days.
Moderate risk: Rip currents at Woolgoolga Beach
Permanent and intermittent rips can form along the length of the beach, particularly near the headland. Swim between the red-and-yellow flags when patrol is active.
Low risk: Rock platform hazards
Sharp barnacle-covered rocks at the base of the headland can cause cuts and abrasions; entry/exit over rock platforms requires care, especially in swell.
Low risk: Marine stingers
Bluebottles (Physalia physalis) and occasional box jellyfish can drift inshore on northerly currents during summer months.
