Woodman Point blends white-sand beaches, calm coastal waters and shady tuart woodland into a rare sea-and-bush escape just 45 minutes south of Perth. The main snorkel attraction is a rock wall 200 m from shore, where schools of toadfish, striped grunter, whiting, old wives and red-lipped morwongs dart among the crevices and seagrass patches. Keen-eyed snorkelers may also spot small seahorses clinging to the rocks. With easy beach entry, ample parking, picnic shelters and a nearby café, this quieter alternative to Mettams Pool and Omeo Wreck delivers a rewarding underwater wander.

Moderate risk: Fishing lines and hooks
A popular fishing spot — look out for stray fishing lines and hooks in the water, especially near the rock wall and at the point.
Low risk: Afternoon wind chop
Afternoon westerly winds can create chop and reduce visibility, best to snorkel early in the day.
Low risk: Tidal currents
Tidal currents may be noticeable at the change of tide; plan snorkel around smaller tides for best conditions.
