Wistari Reef, a stunning coral platform just south of Heron Island in the Southern Great Barrier Reef, offers some of the most vibrant snorkeling in the region. This reef is renowned for its spectacular coral pools teeming with brilliantly patterned fish, giant clams showing vivid mantle colours, and an extraordinary diversity of hard and soft corals. The reef is accessible via Marine Parks mooring buoys and can be snorkelled at both high and low tide, making it a flexible destination for immersive underwater exploration. Humpback whales are frequently spotted in the channel between Wistari and Heron Island reefs during migration season.
