Whitaker Island (also known as Whittaker Island) is one of 42 islands in the remote Dampier Archipelago off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia. This rugged, rocky island is surrounded by vibrant hard and soft coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, rays, turtles, and nudibranchs. Accessible only by boat, Whitaker Island offers pristine turquoise waters and exceptional snorkelling in a largely untouched marine environment that forms part of the larger Murujuga cultural seascape.

Getting in
Whitaker Island is located in the Dampier Archipelago, approximately 20 km north-west of Dampier, WA. Access is by private or charter boat only. The nearest boat ramps are at Dampier (High Street boat ramp) and Karratha Back Beach. Pilbara Dive and Tours offers small-group snorkelling tours to the island from Dampier.
Vehicle parking is available at the Dampier boat ramp and at Karratha Back Beach boat ramp. No parking facilities exist on the island.
