West White Beach is a remote, pristine white-sand beach on Christmas Island's north coast, framed by towering rainforest cliffs and a spectacular offshore fringing reef that begins just metres from shore. Reached via a challenging rainforest hike with a rope-assisted cliff descent, this secluded gem rewards adventurous snorkelers with calm, crystal-clear waters and a vibrant coral reef teeming with marine life. The gleaming white sand, lush jungle backdrop, and solitude make it one of the island's most rewarding snorkel destinations.

Moderate risk: Outgoing tide current
Ocean currents can develop beyond the protected inshore reef, especially during tidal changes.
Moderate risk: Steep rope-assisted cliff descent
Access requires descending a steep cliff face using a fixed rope — slippery when wet and not suitable for those with mobility issues.
Low risk: Sharp coral reef entry
Shallow, sharp coral and rocky reef platform at the entry point — reef shoes are essential to avoid cuts.
