Weerdee Island is a remote tidal island in the Dampier Archipelago off Port Hedland, part of Western Australia's Pilbara region. Surrounded by shallow sandy flats and fringing coral reefs, it offers a wild, off-the-beaten-path snorkeling experience. Accessible only by boat, the island serves as a peaceful escape where snorkelers can explore sponge gardens and reef habitats typical of the Pilbara's biodiverse coastline. Its isolation means pristine conditions but also limited facilities — it's a true wilderness snorkel destination.

Moderate risk: Remote location
No on-site facilities, fresh water, or emergency services. Self-sufficiency is essential; nearest medical facility is in Port Hedland.
Moderate risk: Crocodile presence
Saltwater crocodiles are occasionally reported in the Pilbara coastal and island waters. Always exercise caution and check local advisories.
Low risk: Marine stingers
Box jellyfish and other marine stingers may be present in warmer months, particularly in nearshore waters.
Low risk: Extreme heat
Pilbara summer temperatures regularly exceed 40°C (104°F), increasing dehydration and heat stress risk.
