Valla Headland, on the Mid North Coast of NSW about 10 km north of Nambucca Heads, is a striking rocky outcrop with bluffs rising 20 m above a narrow 425 m beach. At low to mid tide, a series of natural rockpools sitting just 10 m offshore are revealed — perfect for a sheltered, intimate snorkel. The headland's boulders and ledges create intricate pools teeming with small marine life, all within easy wading distance from the sand. With calm swell conditions, these hidden gem pools offer a safe, family-friendly snorkel experience that feels worlds away from the busier beaches to the south.

Moderate risk: Low tide access only
Rockpools are only safely accessible at low to mid tide; at high tide they are submerged or cut off.
Moderate risk: Swell conditions
Large or storm swells can create dangerous surge in the rockpools. Only snorkel on calm days.
Low risk: Rocky shore access
Uneven, slippery rocks at the water's edge require care when entering and exiting the rockpools.
