The iconic V-shaped breakwater at the mouth of the Nambucca River where it meets the Pacific Ocean offers a unique snorkeling experience beneath a living canvas of painted rocks. The sheltered inner side of the wall provides calm, clear waters teeming with colourful fish species, while the outer edge drops into deeper ocean current where dolphins and turtles frequently pass by. The wall's structure creates an artificial reef habitat attracting abundant marine life, all within easy reach of the shore — a perfect blend of art, nature, and underwater exploration.

Moderate risk: Outgoing river current
As the river meets the ocean, outgoing tides can create strong currents flowing out to sea, especially near the outer tip of the V-Wall.
Low risk: Boat traffic
The river mouth is a 4-knot zone but boat traffic including fishing vessels operates in the area. Snorkelers should stay vigilant and avoid the main channel.
Low risk: Slippery rocks
The breakwater rocks are covered in algae and can be extremely slippery when wet, making entry and exit treacherous.
Low risk: Tidal currents at river mouth
Flowing tidal currents can develop near the river entrance, especially on outgoing tides. Best snorkeled at slack tide or high tide.
