Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Tucked just north of Ulladulla's working harbour on the NSW South Coast, North Beach is a little-known, pet-friendly (off-leash) stretch of sand that offers calm, protected snorkelling conditions inside the harbour breakwater. The shared pathway from town winds around harbour viewpoints, while the breakwater wharf creates a sheltered zone ideal for beginners. With the backdrop of a bustling fishing port and regular dolphin sightings offshore, this hidden gem delivers a relaxed, easily accessible saltwater experience away from the region's busier beaches.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Boat traffic in harbour channel

The working harbour has fishing vessels and recreational boat movements near the breakwater. Stay clear of the channel and boat ramp area.

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current

Moderate outflow through the harbour entrance can create tidal movement around the breakwall. Best snorkelled on slack or incoming tide.
