Twin Peaks is a standout dive site on Saxon Reef, part of the Outer Great Barrier Reef off Cairns. Two massive coral bommies rise from 18 metres depth to almost break the surface, creating a dramatic underwater landscape. A narrow swim-through connects the peaks, with a curious large tree trunk wedged between them. The site offers a rich mix of coral gardens, sandy bays, and deeper walls, attracting reef sharks, trevally, large cod, moray eels, and schools of fusiliers and sweetlips. The clear outer-reef waters and varied topography make it equally rewarding for snorkellers at the surface and divers exploring deeper.

Moderate risk: Tidal current
Tidal currents can be swift around the peaks and the outer edges of Saxon Reef, especially during changing tides.
Low risk: Titan triggerfish (territorial)
Titan triggerfish are seasonally aggressive during nesting, known to chase divers and snorkellers who approach their territory.
Low risk: Deep reef wall currents
The outer reef walls and deeper areas around the peaks can be exposed to stronger currents and require good fitness and experience.
