Twin Falls (Yaranjangu) is a stunning freshwater swimming and snorkeling spot in Apudthama National Park on Cape York Peninsula, where the waters of Elliot River and Canal Creek cascade over smooth sandstone into a series of deep, clear rock pools. Nestled among tropical woodland and heath, this remote oasis offers cool, croc-free freshwater perfect for a refreshing dip and underwater exploration. The easy 480 m walking track from the day-use area winds through native bushland to the falls, where the dappled light filtering through the canopy creates a magical atmosphere. Getting in
Twin Falls is located in Apudthama National Park (formerly Jardine River National Park) on Cape York Peninsula, accessible via the Telegraph Road and Bamaga Road. A 4WD vehicle is essential and a permit is required for the Jardine River ferry crossing. The site is about 900 km northwest of Cairns.
Day-use car park at the trailhead. The walk to Twin Falls is a 480 m return (Grade: easy) taking about 10 minutes each way.
The Jardine River ferry crossing fee applies. Check Queensland Parks website for current national park entry fees.
