Trigg Beach offers fantastic shore-entry snorkeling along Perth's northern coastline, centered on a shallow limestone reef system that shelters a patchwork of sand channels and rocky bommies. Just south of the main beach, the reef drops into hidden pockets and ledges where schools of reef fish gather in clear Indian Ocean waters. The adjacent Trigg Island point provides additional structure, while the natural limestone barrier keeps conditions manageable on calm days. On the northern end, Mettams Pool — a rock-enclosed lagoon — offers an even more protected alternative. With easy beach access, year-round snorkeling potential, and reliable water clarity in the early morning, Trigg Beach is a staple of the Perth snorkeling scene.

Moderate risk: Coastal currents
Strong coastal currents can develop along the beach, especially around the point and during tidal changes. Inexperienced swimmers should stay close to shore.
Low risk: Swell and wave action
Swell and wave action can pick up suddenly, particularly around Trigg Island point and the outer reef edge. Best snorkeled on calm days with low swell.
Low risk: Sharp limestone reef
The limestone reef has sharp, uneven edges. Bare feet risk cuts and scrapes. Reef booties are strongly recommended.
Low risk: Marine stingers
Stinger jellyfish (including box jellyfish and Irukandji) are occasionally present during the warmer months.
