Sheltered within Arakoon National Park, Trial Bay's Front Beach is a calm, family-friendly snorkeling spot protected by a historic break wall. The granite headlands of Little Smoky frame the bay, while the waters remain remarkably placid — ideal for beginners. The ruins of Trial Bay Gaol (1886) sit just above the beach, adding a fascinating heritage backdrop. With shallow, clear water and sandy entry, it's a go-to spot for paddling, liloing, and underwater exploration among rocky reef edges near the break wall.

Low risk: Break wall submerged rocks
Submerged granite rocks adjacent to the historic break wall pose a scraping hazard, especially at lower tide levels.
Low risk: Tannin-stained water after rain
Heavy rainfall can wash tannin and mud into the bay, significantly reducing underwater visibility for snorkeling.
