The spot

Community-maintained

Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Nestled in the heart of Port Macquarie, Town Beach offers a calm, protected snorkelling environment sheltered by the iconic Breakwall. The sandy-bottom bay transitions into rocky reef sections near the Breakwall, where small schools of fish gather. Flat calm conditions often prevail inside the breakwall area, making it an ideal family-friendly spot. The adjacent reserve provides grassy picnic areas, and the colourful painted rocks along the Breakwall add a unique charm to the shoreline entry.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Boat traffic near Breakwall

The Breakwall area adjoins the Hastings River entrance, where small boats and fishing vessels transit. Stay aware of boat movement, especially near the river mouth.

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current

An outgoing tide can create a noticeable current from the Hastings River outflow past the Breakwall, which may push swimmers seaward.
