The Wash is an offshore dive and snorkel site within the Solitary Islands Marine Park off Coffs Harbour, North Coast NSW. Sitting at 15–30 metres depth, this submerged reef system is shaped by the meeting of warm tropical currents from the north and cooler southern waters, creating a rich blend of marine biodiversity. The site offers dramatic underwater terrain with boulder fields, gutters, and sandy patches. Accessible by boat charter from Coffs Harbour Marina, The Wash is known for excellent visibility and encounters with Grey Nurse Sharks, rays, turtles, and large pelagic fish. It's a less-crowded alternative to South Solitary Island sites, providing adventurous snorkelers and divers with pristine reef, colourful hard and soft corals, and the chance to spot everything from wobbegongs to giant cuttlefish.

Moderate risk: Strong ocean currents
The East Australian Current can create strong, unpredictable currents around the reef, especially on the northern side. Current typically flows north-to-south and can be too strong to swim against.
Moderate risk: Depth hazards
Depths range from 15 to 30 metres. Snorkelers and free-divers need to be mindful of depth limits. Rapid ascents from depth risk decompression sickness.
Low risk: Boat traffic
Site is accessed by boat and lies in an active marine park with charter vessels. Snorkelers must be aware of boat traffic and maintain surface visibility.
Low risk: Variable visibility
Water clarity can fluctuate due to swell, currents, and seasonal conditions. Visibility may drop significantly after storms or northerly swells.
