Moored permanently on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, the Quicksilver Pontoon at Agincourt Reef puts you directly above a spectacular ribbon reef teeming with marine life. This dual-level platform offers sheltered snorkelling in crystal-clear Coral Sea waters, with direct access to vibrant coral gardens, drop-offs, and sandy bommies. The pontoon's location on Agincourt Reef — one of the most pristine ribbon reefs — means you can swim among giant clams, anemonefish, and colourful coral formations within seconds of stepping off the platform. It's a full-day outer reef experience with an underwater observatory and semi-submersible available for non-snorkellers.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Stinger season (jellyfish)

Box jellyfish (stingers) are present in North QLD waters, particularly during the warmer months. The pontoon provides stinger suits.

  • Low risk: Outgoing tide current

Agincourt Reef is on the outer edge of the continental shelf where strong tidal flows can occur between the ribbon reefs, especially on outgoing tides.

  • Low risk: Extreme sun exposure

The sun intensity in tropical North QLD is extreme; reflection off the water increases exposure risk.

  • Low risk: Shallow coral formations

Coral can be shallow near the pontoon; swimmers should be aware of their surroundings to avoid contact.
