The Needles are a striking cluster of volcanic rock pinnacles rising from the sea just off Cape Byron, Australia's easternmost point. This exposed offshore snorkeling site sits in the Cape Byron Marine Park, where nutrient-rich currents sweep past the rocks creating a vibrant ecosystem. The dramatic underwater topography features sheer walls, boulder fields, and gutters, all swarming with fish life. This is not a spot for the faint-hearted — it demands strong swimming ability and ideal conditions, but rewards with some of the most pristine marine encounters on the NSW north coast.
