The Bus Stop is a local-favourite shore-entry snorkel site on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, accessible via the Route 788 bus from Frankston to Portsea. Named for the convenient public-transport drop-off, this spot offers easy access to sheltered Port Phillip waters with sandy seabeds and small patches of seagrass that shelter schooling fish, flathead, and the occasional weedy seadragon. The mellow conditions and gentle gradient make it a reliable beginner-to-intermediate snorkel, particularly popular during summer weekends.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

Busy summer weekends bring recreational boats and jet skis near the shallows. Stay alert and within the marked swimming area.

  • Low risk: Variable visibility

After wind or rain, visibility can drop quickly. Check conditions before entering.

  • Low risk: Cold water temperatures

Port Phillip water temperatures range from 10°C (winter) to 22°C (summer). A full wetsuit is recommended year-round.
