The Bluff (Rosetta Head) anchors the rugged southern coastline of Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula, offering a premier snorkel site around its small fishing jetty and adjacent reef. Enter from the sandy beach at the bend, swim out past the jetty pilings, and explore boulder reefs and dense weed beds that host a famously healthy population of leafy sea dragons. This exposed site is best dived on calm days with northerly winds. The chain of the Encounter Marine Park shelters crayfish in crevices, schools of reef fish, and the occasional visiting seal. Navigate by keeping the rocky reef to your right shoulder on the way out — when you feel the current pick up, it's time to turn around.

Moderate risk: Exposure to Southerly Winds
The site is fully exposed to southerly winds, which can create hazardous sea conditions. Only snorkel on days with low winds or northerly breezes.
Low risk: Tidal Current
A noticeable current develops around the reef and jetty area. When you feel the current pick up, turn back immediately.
Low risk: Slippery Rocks
The rocks near the fishing jetty are slippery and dangerous for entry/exit. Use the beach or jetty ladder instead.
Low risk: Poor Visibility
There are often particles in the water, reducing visibility even on good days.
