Tea House Reef South, inside the Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary, is the main snorkelling and dive site at Beaumaris on Port Phillip Bay. This shallow intertidal reef system drops to 5 metres and is accessed via the Beaumaris Yacht Club beach entry. The rocky reef platforms and sandy gutters harbour prolific fish life — regular sightings include snapper, flathead, octopus and stingrays. As a no-take marine sanctuary, the ecosystem thrives, making every snorkel rewarding. Best entered on a rising high tide for clearer water and easiest navigation over the shallow reef.

Moderate risk: Shallow reef at low tide
At low tide the reef is very shallow, making entry/exit difficult and increasing risk of cuts from sharp rocks.
Moderate risk: Strong onshore winds
Southerly to north-westerly winds create rough white-water conditions making snorkelling dangerous. Check forecast before entering.
Low risk: Boat traffic
Adjacent to yacht club area; mind boat traffic and always tow a dive buoy with dive flag.
Low risk: Slippery reef rocks
The intertidal reef platform is extremely slippery when wet; risk of falls and injury when walking across.
