Tarcoola Beach is a sheltered southern-suburb beach in Geraldton, prized for its calm turquoise waters and soft white sand — a safe family-friendly swimming spot that doubles as a solid snorkelling site on calm days. Sheltered from the notorious Geraldton wind by its position, the beach offers clear, shallow conditions ideal for spotting small reef fish, shells, and marine fossils washed up on the shore. A grassed picnic reserve across the road provides stunning ocean views, while the half-hour coastal walk into the town centre rewards with windsurfer-watching along the way. Best visited early morning or at low tide for the clearest water.

Low risk: Geraldton wind (sea breeze)
Strong afternoon sea breezes can whip up choppy conditions and reduce visibility for snorkelling.
Low risk: Low tide exposure
