Nestled between Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach on the Gold Coast, Tallebudgera Creek is a pristine estuary where calm, crystal-clear waters meet golden sands. Sheltered from big surf and strong winds, this protected creek offers exceptional snorkelling, especially up to an hour before high tide when fresh ocean water flushes in, bringing turtles, rays and dolphins with it. The water varies from shallow sandbanks perfect for beginners to deeper channels up to 10 metres near the bridge — a favourite spot for adventurous bridge jumpers at high tide. With lifeguard-patrolled swimming areas on the southern side, it's one of the Gold Coast's safest and most picturesque snorkelling destinations.

High risk: Bridge Jumping Sandbanks
Sandbanks accumulate beneath the bridge and can shift unpredictably. Jumping at low tide risks serious injury from hidden sandbars.
Moderate risk: Tidal Current at Creek Mouth
The tidal flow can create strong currents near the ocean entrance, particularly on an outgoing tide, with risk of being swept out to sea.
Moderate risk: Rip Currents at River Mouth
When the tide is running out, rip currents can form where the creek meets the surf zone, posing a danger to weaker swimmers.
Low risk: Boat Traffic
The creek is used by boats, kayaks and paddleboards. Snorkellers should stay aware of vessel movement, especially near the entrance and bridge.
