Swimcart Beach is a stunning 1.5 km sweep of pure white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water within the Bay of Fires Conservation Area on Tasmania's east coast. Named after an Aboriginal word meaning 'river with plenty of fish,' this beach is framed by dramatic granite boulders cloaked in bright orange lichen — the iconic Bay of Fires trademark. The beach is split into northern and southern sections by Swimcart Lagoon, which is often sand-blocked from the sea. Popular for snorkeling, swimming, and surf fishing, the calm shallow inshore waters offer good visibility for spotting reef fish and marine life. The beach faces east into the Tasman Sea and delivers a classic, wild Tasmanian coastal experience.

Low risk: Lagoon sand-bar instability
Swimcart Lagoon mouth is often blocked but can break through unpredictably, creating strong outflow currents when open.
