Stinky Bay is a secluded, 2 km sweeping arc of low-gradient beach on the Limestone Coast, tucked between Lurline Point and the southern headland of Nora Creina. Its evocative name comes from the natural sulfurous scent of decomposing kelp and seaweed that washes ashore. The beach offers calm, sheltered waters ideal for snorkeling on calm days, with a wild, undeveloped backdrop of dunes and coastal scrub. Access is via Nora Creina, a tiny beachside settlement with limited facilities, making this a peaceful escape for those seeking solitude and untamed coastal beauty.

Moderate risk: Rip currents
Stinky Bay has no lifeguard patrol and can experience strong rip currents, especially when onshore winds and swell pick up. Swim with caution.
Low risk: Sudden swell increase
As the beach faces the Southern Ocean, swells can increase suddenly with changing weather, creating challenging conditions for swimmers and snorkelers.
Low risk: Slippery rocks
Slippery rocks near the headlands at either end of the bay can be hazardous when entering or exiting the water.
Low risk: Sharks
The region is known for Great White Sharks. Snorkelers should avoid dawn/dusk swimming and murky water conditions.
