This 1882-built coastal steamer sank in rough weather on 24 April 1917. Today its collapsed remains — boilers, engine, tubes, and scattered hull plates — rest on a rocky reef seafloor, easily visible in the clear sheltered waters. The site offers an accessible wreck dive for snorkelers and beginner divers, with the intact engine block and boiler providing superb photo opportunities amid the surrounding reef life.","beginner","published",{"name":58,"amplitude":74,"phase":90,"latitude":22,"model":106,"epoch":107},[59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,67,68,69,70,71,72,73],"2N2","J1","K1","K2","M2","M4","MF","MM","N2","O1","P1","Q1","S1","S2","T2",[75,76,77,78,79,80,81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89],0.006866857027541429,0.013632263185819516,0.2434551430333277,0.06360579908822157,0.1635118833553376,0.006590353213065473,0.004707028061513983,0.012472060008145764,0.010381960256278003,0.16663276211162156,0.07193550402163006,0.03955210407279078,0.0169443453828682,0.18043576457412197,0.01517438491247736,[91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,100,101,102,103,104,105],208.28560820152177,294.11782852754726,267.6690551742681,192.32479418288244,145.47171077505254,306.35926218023974,140.5351590144138,254.69870431852746,234.03067008913985,250.4732631923572,266.4766204014588,232.61003255905513,2.6837024781285947,187.20809521006925,167.67809738681876,"EOT20","1992-01-01T00:00:00Z",[109,115,120,125,128],{"name":110,"description":111,"severity":112,"season_start":113,"season_end":114},"Variable weather and swell","Conditions can change rapidly in Investigator Strait; west coast of Wardang Island can be exposed to wind and chop from the open strait.","caution",6,8,{"name":116,"description":117,"severity":112,"season_start":118,"season_end":119},"Cold water temperatures","South Australian waters can be cold year-round, with winter temperatures dropping significantly, requiring proper exposure protection.",5,10,{"name":121,"description":122,"severity":123,"season_start":124,"season_end":124},"Sharp wreck debris","The collapsed wreck has exposed metal plates, broken pipes, and sharp edges that can cause cuts if touched.","warning",null,{"name":126,"description":127,"severity":112,"season_start":124,"season_end":124},"Boat traffic","The site is accessed by boat from Port Victoria; snorkelers need to be aware of dive boats and local vessel traffic near Wardang Island.",{"name":129,"description":130,"severity":112,"season_start":124,"season_end":124},"Strong currents in Investigator Strait","Tidal flows through Investigator Strait can create moderate currents around Wardang Island, especially on an outgoing tide.",{"directions":132,"parking":133,"facilities":134,"fees":138,"access_method":139},"The SS Investigator wreck is located about 500m southwest of Wardang Island, off the coast of Port Victoria on the Yorke Peninsula.
