The spot

Community-maintained

Community contribution: submitted by Daniel

Spencer Park sits on the calm, sheltered edge of Merimbula Lake, offering a family-friendly shore-entry snorkel spot with shallow, clear water and a sandy bottom. The park itself features a grassy foreshore, playground, and barbecue facilities, making it easy to spend a relaxed day between swims. While the lake waters are less reef-oriented than ocean beaches, snorkelers can spot soldier crabs scuttling across the sandflats and small fish around the lake's seagrass beds. Its protected setting — well away from surf and strong currents — makes it an ideal introduction to snorkeling for beginners and young children exploring the Sapphire Coast.
