Just a 20-minute drive northwest of Perth, Sorrento Beach fringes the Sunset Coast with dazzling white sand and turquoise waters. A popular family swimming spot, the beach also draws snorkellers to its calm nearshore waters, especially around the shark-net enclosure and rocky edges near the reef. The adjacent grassy parklands, kiosk, and change facilities make for an easy, comfortable day out, and the nearby Hillarys Boat Harbour offers extra dining and the Aquarium of Western Australia.

Low risk: South-westerly breeze and surge
A south-westerly wind can create surge and choppy conditions, particularly around the rocky edges of the reef, making access over rocks difficult.
Low risk: Rocks at entry points
Access to the snorkel areas near the reef involves navigating over rocks, which can be slippery and hazardous, especially in swell.
Low risk: Marine stingers (warmer months)
Like many Perth beaches, bluebottles and occasional box jellyfish may be present during warmer months.
