Korogoro Creek flows through Hat Head National Park, forming a crystal-clear tidal creek that reaches up to two metres deep — perfect for floating weightlessly over sand and seagrass. Just before high tide, the creek fills with marine life, making it a vibrant natural aquarium. For the adventurous, the creek mouth opens directly to the ocean where you can drift around Hat Head Mountain. Mangroves line the banks, serving as critical fish nurseries, while the surrounding headlands offer whale and dolphin views during migration season.

Low risk: Tidal Current at Creek Mouth
Surging tidal flow where Korogoro Creek meets the open ocean can create strong currents, especially around high tide transitions.
Low risk: Wobbegong Sharks
Wobbegong (carpet) sharks are known to frequent the ocean side around Hat Head Mountain. Generally not aggressive but can bite if stepped on.
Low risk: Mangrove Root Hazards
Exposed mangrove roots line the creek banks; treading on them damages the ecosystem and can cause slips or cuts.
