Snapper Island is an oval-shaped island about 5 km inside Batemans Bay, sitting within the Batemans Marine Park. This protected nature reserve is a no-landing sanctuary for little penguins, but the surrounding sheltered waters are perfect for snorkeling and kayaking. Paddle out from Wharf Road boat ramp or the Batemans Bay shoreline to explore the island's perimeter, where clear estuarine waters, rocky reefs, and seagrass beds teem with fish, stingrays, and the occasional turtle.
