Sisters Rocks is a dramatic series of granite pinnacles rising from deep water off the Tasman Peninsula's rugged coast, approximately 12 km north of Pirates Bay. This exposed offshore site is renowned among Tasmania's diving community for its sheer walls draped in vibrant sponge gardens, soft corals, and seafans that thrive in the nutrient-rich Southern Ocean currents. The crystal-clear water, deep drop-offs, and spectacular sub-surface topography make it one of the most visually striking snorkel and dive locations in Tasmania, though it demands respect for the wild ocean conditions.

Moderate risk: Strong tidal currents
Strong tidal currents rip around the pinnacles, especially during ebb and flood tides, posing a risk of being swept away from the rocks.
Moderate risk: Very cold water temperature
Water temperatures are very cold year-round (10–14°C / 50–57°F), requiring a thick wetsuit or drysuit for safety.
Moderate risk: Deep drop-offs with no shallow refuge
Depths drop sharply to 40+ metres around the pinnacles, with no shallow shelving — depth management is critical.
