Short Point Beach (also known as Tura Beach) is a sweeping golden-sand beach nestled on a headland about 2 km from Merimbula town centre on the Sapphire Coast. Protected by the point from the worst of the southerly swell, this spot offers clear, calm inshore waters ideal for snorkeling around the rocky headland edges. The grassy foreshore and panoramic coastal views make it a favourite with locals, surfers, and divers alike. The beach is patrolled during holiday periods, and the adjacent reef and boulder areas hold an array of temperate marine life.

Moderate risk: Southerly swell
Swell wrapping around the point can create strong shore breaks and dumpers, particularly on a rising tide
Moderate risk: Ocean Swell & Surf
When swell is up, strong waves and surf breaks can create dangerous conditions for snorkelers near the headland.
Low risk: Rip currents
Unpatrolled sections of the beach can develop rips; swim between the flags during patrol hours (holiday periods only)
Low risk: Rocky ledges
Submerged rocks and ledges near the headland can cause injury if entering or exiting carelessly
Low risk: Rock Platform Slips
Slippery and uneven rock platforms at the headland edges require care when entering and exiting the water.
Low risk: Rock Fishing Hazards
Active rock fishing occurs on the rock platforms; snorkelers should be aware of lines and sinkers.
