The spot

Community-maintained

Shoalwater Bay, nestled within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park south of Perth, offers protected, crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling. Limestone reefs, seagrass meadows, and rocky platforms around Point Peron create a vibrant underwater landscape teeming with reef fish, stingrays, and the occasional friendly sea lion. The shallow, calm bays make this an ideal family-friendly snorkeling destination where you can paddle out from sandy beaches to explore isolated reefs just offshore.

  • Low risk: Shallow rocks at low tide

Protruding limestone rocks and shallow reef areas can be hazardous at low tide, especially near Point Peron.

  • Low risk: Boat traffic

The marine park sees boat and kayak traffic in the channels between islands; stay vigilant near marked channels.
