Tucked along the Central Coast of NSW between Bateau Bay and The Entrance, Shelly Beach is a tranquil, north-facing beach backed by a golf course and native bushland. The sheltered waters offer clear conditions on calm days, with a gently sloping sandy bottom that gives way to rocky reefs at the ends — home to abundant fish and marine life. Less crowded than its southern namesake at Manly, this Shelly Beach offers a peaceful alternative for shore-based snorkeling, with an ocean pool adjacent for safe swimming. The beach sits within easy reach of the Pacific Highway and offers picnic areas, making it a favourite local escape.

Low risk: Swell and rip currents
During increased swell conditions, rips can form near the rocky headlands at either end of the beach. Swim between the flags when patrols are active.
Low risk: Rocky reef exposure at low tide
The reef platforms at the northern and southern ends are sharp and can be exposed at low tide, posing a hazard for barefoot entry and exit.
