Shark Point sits on the northern headland of Clovelly Bay, just 8 km from Sydney's CBD, and is widely regarded as one of the city's finest shore dives. Beneath the surface, a labyrinth of swim-throughs, overhangs, and giant boulder bommies unfolds, dropping to 26 metres along a reef edge that teems with fish life. The rocky gutter entry and surge-prone exit demand respect, rewarding experienced snorkellers and divers with close encounters with wobbegongs, giant cuttlefish, eastern blue devils, and weedy seadragons. During whale migration season (May–November), humpback songs reverberate through the water column.

DANGER: Explicit Risks Present
Shark Point (Eastern Suburbs) has hazards marked as danger. Entering the water here means you may face serious risks to your personal safety.
- Surge at entry/exit gutter danger
Powerful wave surge in the rocky gutter entry and exit points can sweep snorkellers into rocks or make exit extremely difficult, especially in moderate swell.
- Low tide exit hazard danger
At low tide, the underwater wave breaker separating the open ocean from Clovelly Pool becomes exposed, creating risk of being smashed onto shallow rock with wave force.

High risk: Low tide exit hazard
At low tide, the underwater wave breaker separating the open ocean from Clovelly Pool becomes exposed, creating risk of being smashed onto shallow rock with wave force.
Moderate risk: Outgoing tide current
Ebb tide creates a strong outward flow over the Clovelly Pool wall, making return to the pool extremely difficult for anyone exiting that way.
Low risk: Sharp rocks on access path
The rock platform approach to the gutter entry involves climbing over uneven, sharp cunjevoi-covered rocks, posing slip and cut risks.
