Shark Bay is a sheltered, beachside picnic and snorkelling spot tucked within Bundjalung National Park, just south of Iluka on the NSW north coast. Protected from big ocean swells by a headland and fringing shallow reef, the bay offers calm, sparkling blue water perfect for snorkelling beginners. Park right at the grassy picnic area shaded by coastal rainforest, where you can hear butcher birds and cicadas while keeping an eye on kids playing. The fringing reef hosts colourful marine life and is easily accessible from shore, making it a quiet alternative to busier beaches — though no lifesaving service is provided, so swim with care.
