Seaward Ledge is an exposed offshore reef system on the outer perimeter of Jurien Bay's limestone reef network, roughly 2 km from shore. This dive and snorkel site features a rugged underwater terrain of limestone ledges, shallow caves, and swim-throughs carved by swell over millennia. Positioned on the seaward side of the reef chain, it offers clear oceanic water and encounters with Western Australian marine life when conditions are calm. The ledge's isolation from the protected inner lagoon means it delivers a wilder, more adventurous experience for competent snorkelers willing to paddle out or join a boat charter from Jurien Bay.

High risk: Open ocean swell exposure
Seaward Ledge faces the full force of the Indian Ocean. Swell can arrive suddenly, creating surge around the reef ledges and making exit difficult. Only snorkel in low swell (<1 m) and light winds.
Moderate risk: Strong currents
Tidal flows accelerate around the outer reef structure. Snorkelers can be swept offshore or along the ledge if caught in a running tide. Dive at slack tide only.
Moderate risk: Boat traffic
The ledge is frequented by charter and fishing vessels. Snorkelers are exposed to boat traffic during transit and at the site. Use a dive flag and maintain surface awareness.
Moderate risk: Remote location
Located approximately 2 km from shore with no immediate emergency access. Snorkelers must be self-sufficient and accompanied by a support vessel or experienced guide.
