Located in the Jurien Bay Marine Park, about 2.5 hours north of Perth, Sea Lion Snorkel is a guided boat-based experience to the offshore haul-out islands (Buller Island, North Fisherman Island, Essex Rocks) where the rare Australian sea lion breeds and plays. Snorkellers enter the calm, crystalline waters alongside these inquisitive marine mammals — often called the 'puppies of the sea' — for an unforgettable wildlife encounter in the only Australian sea lion breeding ground on the west coast.

Low risk: Rough seas and wind
Tours operate year-round but may be cancelled in rough sea conditions or strong winds, which can create choppy waters around the offshore islands.
Low risk: Open ocean currents
Swimming in open ocean near island rookeries; strong currents can occur between islands. Tour operators assess conditions before entry.
Low risk: Marine wildlife interaction
Wild sea lions are unpredictable and may approach closely. Touching or chasing them is prohibited and can provoke defensive behaviour.
