Scout Beach is the central section of a continuous 600-metre sandy shoreline in Mornington, flanked by Mothers Beach to the west and Shire Hall Beach to the east. Named after the 2nd Mornington Sea Scouts hall perched above the bluffs, this north-facing Port Phillip Bay beach offers calm, shallow waters with a general hazard rating of just 3/10 — making it one of the least hazardous beaches on the peninsula. The sandy bottom gives way to scattered rocks near the eastern end, creating small habitats worth exploring. With picnic tables, toilets, a kiosk, and a car park opposite 793 Esplanade, it's a relaxed family-friendly snorkel spot that rewards a patient eye around the rocky edges.

Low risk: Boat traffic
The beach sits near the Mornington Marina and a boat ramp. Snorkellers should stay clear of the boat channel and keep watch for vessels launching and retrieving.
Low risk: Submerged rocks at eastern end
The eastern section of Scout Beach near the Shire Hall Beach boundary has scattered rocks under the water that can cause cuts or stubbed toes if wading barefoot.
