An 800-metre self-guided underwater snorkel trail on Rottnest Island's sheltered southern side, following a limestone ridge through the Parker Point Marine Sanctuary. Twelve interpretive plaques fixed to the seabed identify the surrounding coral gardens, seagrass meadows and the delicate pink Pocillopora coral that thrives in these calm, crystal-clear shallows. With depths of just 1-5 metres and generally flat conditions, this is one of Western Australia's most accessible and educational reef experiences — perfect for first-timers and families wanting to float over a living classroom of marine life.

Low risk: Sharp limestone reef edges
The underwater trail follows a limestone ridge with sharp edges — wear reef shoes or fins and avoid touching the coral.
Low risk: Rocks at beach entry
The beach at Parker Point is rocky with seaweed — take care entering and exiting the water.
Low risk: Boat traffic near sanctuary boundaries
While the marine sanctuary itself is protected, boat traffic occurs in the surrounding channels; stay within the marked trail area.
Low risk: Outgoing tide current
Tidal flow can increase along the limestone ridge, especially on an outgoing tide, potentially pushing snorkellers away from the trail.
Low risk: Sharp limestone reef
The underwater limestone ridge is sharp and abrasive; exposed skin can be cut easily when kneeling or standing.
Low risk: Marine stingers (summer)
Box jellyfish and other marine stingers can be present during the warmer months (November to April).
Low risk: Sharp reef limestone
The shallow reef platform has sharp limestone edges that can cause cuts and abrasions. Wear reef shoes or fins.
