Robe Jetty stretches into the turquoise waters of Guichen Bay on South Australia's rugged Limestone Coast, offering a classic jetty-side snorkeling experience. The wooden pylons attract schooling fish and provide shelter in calm conditions, while the surrounding bay is framed by golden limestone cliffs and the historic Cape Dombey Obelisk. The clear, temperate waters make it easy to spot marine life gathering around the jetty structure. A favourite for families and visitors exploring the charming seaside town of Robe.

Moderate risk: Fishing hooks and lines
The jetty is actively used for fishing — submerged hooks, discarded lines, and sinkers pose a risk to snorkelers swimming near the pylons.
Moderate risk: Boat traffic
Boats regularly navigate the channel near the jetty during warmer months (Nov–Apr). Snorkelers should stay clear of the boat lane and be aware of approaching vessels.
Low risk: Cold water temperatures
The Southern Ocean waters around Robe can be chilly year-round, typically 12–18°C, increasing the risk of cold shock and hypothermia without a wetsuit.
Low risk: Outgoing tide current
Strong outflow can develop near the jetty channel, especially during falling tide.
Low risk: Boat and fishing traffic
Snorkelers must be aware of boats and fishing lines near the jetty structure.
Low risk: Barnacle-encrusted pylons and rocks
Sharp marine growth on jetty pylons and breakwater rocks can cause cuts.
