Known locally as "The Aquarium," this sheltered coral-filled lagoon at Point Quobba is a natural snorkelling paradise just 75 km north of Carnarvon on Western Australia's Coral Coast. Protected by a fringing coral reef that breaks the Indian Ocean swell, the calm, shallow waters teem with colourful reef fish, shells, and corals. A short walk from the famous Quobba Blowholes, the Aquarium offers a safe, family-friendly environment perfect for beginners and confident swimmers alike, best explored at high tide when the lagoon fills and visibility peaks.

Moderate risk: Blowholes cliff danger
The nearby blowholes feature powerful jets of water through narrow rock holes. Slippery rocks and unstable cliff edges nearby require caution.
Low risk: Low tide shallows
At low tide the lagoon becomes very shallow, exposing coral heads and reef — risk of cutting feet or damaging coral. Best at high tide.
Low risk: Sharp coral and reef
The lagoon floor is coral-covered with sharp edges. Snorkellers should wear reef shoes or fins to avoid cuts.
