Pulu Maria (also known as Pulu Maraya) is a tiny islet reached by wading 40–50 metres across a shallow channel from Scout Park on West Island. This idyllic drift snorkel circles the island in 1–2 metres of crystal-clear lagoon water, where you'll float past clams, rock cods, butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish and friendly sea turtles. The gentle current carries you around the islet, making it a relaxed, immersive experience in one of Australia's most remote marine environments.

Moderate risk: Tide-dependent channel crossing
Best done at low to mid tide; at high tide the channel is too deep to wade across safely.
Low risk: Drift current
A gentle current flows around the island; swimmers should be comfortable with drift snorkelling and aware of the direction of flow.
Low risk: Coral/rock cuts
Sharp coral and rocky patches on the reef walk and around the island.
