Pretty Pool is a serene tidal inlet and beach on Port Hedland's northern coast, where calm, shallow turquoise waters meet golden sand fringed by spinifex and dunes. The natural rock-bound pool forms a protected swimming enclosure, while the adjacent Indian Ocean shoreline offers gentle snorkeling over sandy flats and rocky edges. Famous for its annual Flatback turtle nesting (November–March), this quiet Pilbara gem is a favourite for families, picnickers, and casual snorkelers seeking easy, relaxing water access away from the town bustle.

Moderate risk: Marine Stingers (Nov–May)
Box jellyfish and Irukandji may be present during the warmer months in Pilbara coastal waters.
Low risk: Tidal Currents at Inlet Mouth
When the tide is ebbing or flooding, moderate currents can develop around the narrow entrance of the rock pool and the tidal channel.
Low risk: Flatback Turtle Nesting Season
From November to March, nesting turtles and hatchlings use the beach — disturbing nests or using lights near the shore can disorient them.
Low risk: Sharp Rocks and Coral Rubble
The rocky edges of the pool and nearby reef flats can be sharp — wear reef shoes or booties to avoid cuts.
