Preservation Bay is a stunning 700-metre crescent of golden sand cradled between low rocky bluffs on Tasmania's north Bass Strait coast. Sheltered and north-facing, the bay offers clear temperate waters ideal for snorkelling around the rocky headlands and the eastern clubhouse rocks. Its calm, protected setting belies its wild history — named after European settlers who sought refuge here in a storm in 1845. The beach is patrolled and backed by grassy dunes, with a small creek crossing the central sands, creating a diversely textured underwater landscape for exploration.
