Posties Beach is a secluded coastal gem along the Limestone Coast of South Australia, known for its calm, protected waters and accessible shore entry. The beach sits within an area of limestone reefs and sandy inshore gutters that create clear, shallow snorkeling conditions on calm days. Its remote nature means fewer crowds and a peaceful underwater setting, with rocky reef edges giving way to sandy patches where rays and small fish congregate. Best visited during light northerly winds when the ocean side lies flat and the water clarity peaks.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Moderate risk: Swell and waves

Posties Beach can experience exposed swell conditions with waves up to 1-2m, especially during southerly winds, creating strong shore break and rip currents.

  • Low risk: Oceanic swell surge

When southerly swell pushes in, surge around the limestone reef edges can push snorkelers into sharp rock.
