Policemans Point is a peaceful, uncrowded snorkeling spot within the Bay of Fires Conservation Area on Tasmania's north-east coast, near Ansons Bay. Sheltered granite boulders and white-sand shallows fringe Jeanneret Beach, with clear water revealing rocky reef formations just offshore. The calm conditions here make it a relaxed entry point compared to more exposed sections of the Bay of Fires, and the complete absence of crowds adds to its wild appeal.

Know before you go

Logged by the community, confirmed by mods

  • Low risk: Steep drop-offs

Bay of Fires beaches have steep drop-offs into deep water close to shore. Waders and weak swimmers should take care.

  • Low risk: Swell exposure

Open to easterly swells which can generate strong shore breaks and sudden surges, particularly in rougher weather.

  • Low risk: Cold water temperatures

Tasmanian east coast water temperatures remain cold year-round (12–18°C) and can cause rapid fatigue without a wetsuit.
