Point Samson Beach sits on the eastern tip of Western Australia's Dampier Archipelago, offering calm, protected waters ideal for shore-entry snorkeling right off the sand. The beach is part of a historic former deep-water port town, and the fringing reef close to shore reveals coral gardens, tropical fish, and the occasional ray. The adjacent Honeymoon Cove and John's Creek add variety, all within easy walking distance. With its laid-back seaside atmosphere, red dirt contrasts against turquoise water, making this a Pilbara gem for snorkelers seeking easy access to rich marine life.

Moderate risk: Marine stingers (Nov-Apr)
Box jellyfish and other marine stingers may be present during the warmer months.
Low risk: Tidal currents
Moderate tidal movement around the reef edges and near the old jetty pylons can create currents, especially on outgoing tides.
Low risk: Tidal currents at changing tide
Snorkeling is best at half tide; currents can pick up as tide changes, especially around the reef edges.
Low risk: Low tide reef exposure
At low tide, the reef flats are very shallow and exposed, limiting snorkeling areas and increasing risk of coral contact.
