Beneath the iconic Point Lonsdale Lighthouse, these intertidal rockpools lie within the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park. A long rocky shoreline meets pristine white sand and sea caves, with Neptune's Necklace seaweed coating the platforms. At low tide the main pool emerges — deep enough to dive into — revealing colourful sponge gardens, coral outcrops, and a diverse array of marine life in a setting that rivals tropical reefs. The pools sit at the dramatic entrance to Port Phillip Bay where the Bass Strait swell meets the bay, creating a dynamic snorkeling environment.

Moderate risk: Outgoing Tide Current
Strong tidal flow at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay can sweep snorkelers offshore, especially on an outgoing tide.
Moderate risk: Low Tide Timing Required
Rockpools are only safely accessible and clearly visible during low tide; rising tides can trap visitors or submerge entry points.
Low risk: Slippery Rock Platform
Neptune's Necklace seaweed and wet basalt rock make the intertidal platforms extremely slippery when walking to the pools.
Low risk: Exposed Ocean Swell
The site faces Bass Strait and can receive large swells, creating surging water conditions in the pools.
